WHY DOCUMENTING ONE’S HISTORY IS IMPORTANT FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DEMENTIA

-----Caregivers and family members should always consider that a person’s dementia should not be the defining factor about them. While dementia is a definite roadblock in their continuing process of evolving, always remember that there is still a story to be told about their: past, present and future.

UNDERSTANDING THE GOALS FOR BOTH THE FACILITATOR AND INDIVIDUAL

It is the facilitator’s responsibility to help the individual stay focused during the process while the facilitator is trained to understand the challenges the person with dementia might face. The facilitator is less emotional than a family member, throughout the process, and should be prepared to handle the challenges that might occur in the interview:
