Our workshops are designed for family caregivers, where they may learn about living more creatively. The material is presented in a lecture and interactive setting. Our workshops are all about learning, sharing, and having fun. Professional caregivers are welcome to attend, however, the material presented in our workshops does not cover everything. Professionals may want to consider the Training Presentation format.

Almost A Perfect Day

The idea behind “ALMOST A PERFECT DAY” is when caring for a loved one with dementia at home, you most likely are not going to experience perfection every day. However, striving for close to excellence is realistic.
When you create a schedule, consider one that is theme-based upon the individual’s interests and history. Using a theme-based schedule of events makes one’s day more interesting, creative, and reminiscent. This option benefits the individual because themed-subject-matter and can make memory recall more possible. Dementia patients feel more secure when they are within an upbeat and familiar environment leading to more interaction and self-expression. Communication is better.

Creating Special Spaces

Special Spaces is one of AC’s practical training programs designed for in-home family caregivers caring for a loved one with dementia. Discussion centers on the importance for personalizing space in your home so you can create a nostalgic environment, for the benefit of the individual with dementia. A Place in Time- A Multi-Sensory Stimulation Program

A Place in Time uses a combination of different sensory stimuli that share a connection and promote a specific theme. The techniques in using a multi-sensory approach can open the door to greater responses and experiences for all participants, including those with dementia.

Loving Words Again- A Poetry Reading & Writing Program

This workbook is designed for all family caregivers, both professionals and nonprofessionals, and anyone who wants to enjoy the activity of experiencing poetry with a person with dementia. It is all about having fun. Learning to read and understand poetry and then writing a poem. EVERYONE CAN BE A POET!

Feather of a Tale -Memoir Writing Workshop

If you're looking for the opportunity to write a memoir, Aging Creative’s program, A Feather of a Tale offers a learning environment that will enhance your experience, creatively, and socially.
Questions And Answers
What’s a memoir? -----Recalling events or memories, in your past, that stand out, that have had a certain significance.
What’s the difference between documenting a life history (such as My Café) and writing a memoir (A Feather of a Tale)? -----Life histories chronicle life’s events while recording all phases of a person’s life. One of its purposes is for handing down to future generations. A memoir focuses on writing about specific events that focus on the writer’s emotions and feelings.
What's the significance of the title word Feather? -----The word feather and its symbolism are associated with the words: trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, and freedom. Since the program exercises ask the writer to recall impactful events to write about, these words often represent strong emotions the writer may have experienced in their stories.
